Co-design, activate works systems – existing and new, build capability in work related systems to improve total performance

grit led a re-design of work systems in major mining company to improve mind-set, leadership practices, systems adoption, and culture across 15,000 employees.

Redesign of leader focus work and practices at each worker level, drawing on human factors, systems leadership, agile and lean principles. Deployed grit.Leadership Operating Culture System™, visual management, leader one on ones, grit.Focus Work™, grit.3 in a Row™ coaching in support of developing client specific systems and roll out of right work, right role, right time. Linked to our grit.Safe™ Safety Leadership program built capability for the work of a safety leader and the foundational systems that drive the right mind-set, behaviours, accountability and consistency to create a total performance excellence culture.

Operating Discipline – Systems of Work

Lead co-designing new systems of work

SCOPE OF WORK:

DEVELOP NEW OPERATOR ROUTINES FOR ALL ASSETS

grit co-designed and implemented grit.Operator Routines excellence program at a Copper Smelter and Refinery.

A critical failure in the Desulfurization Plant of a copper smelter refinery resulted in significant production loss. grit completed a review of the failure, co-designed and activated new operator routines with the operators that led to significant improvement from 35% to above 90% compliance in SO2 emissions. The Desulfurization Plant is one of 9 critical assets identified in the program and in total the operators teams co-designed and activated 493 operator routines. grit assisted in building the manual and training program with the operators and HR Development teams and coached a dedicated team to continue delivering the remainder of the program across all assets.

Since using a visual performance board, I’ve seen a huge improvement in team planning, plan execution and team work. It has also helped identify where I need to coach individual team members, and for the first time feel fully in control and proactively resolve issues instead of being reactive.
